TechnicalWhen you have been building with logs and timbers as long as we have, sooner or later someone will ask if we do restoration work.
It may be a little intimidating for them if they happen to drop into our building yard and see the massive logs that we are building with,
especially if they own a ‘kit’ log home with 8 inch diameter logs and lots of butt splices in the walls.
Back in the early 1980’s we were contacted to rebuild/restore a 60 year old log cabin that was damaged by a storm that knocked a huge white pine tree over onto the roof.
We rebuilt the walls exactly as the old timers did with oakum chinking and recreated the structure from original photos.
Through the years we have restored ‘kit’ log homes, square log homes, scribed log homes and wood siding on frame homes.
It is satisfying to see the results of a resealed and cleaned up home that looks nearly new!
Check out the sample photos of a ‘kit’ log home restoration ~ on our
Restoration Services page and you will see how some TLC can restore the beauty and the value of a home.
The answer is - Yes we can fix it.

TechnicalWith either method of drying, if you store the timber or put it into use - the timber will change shape as it dries and shrinks.

websiteWelcome to the 2009 version of our website. We have been long overdue for a revamp of the entire site. The previous site was a 'frontpage' site that had severe limitations and really poor navigation. What can you expect from a MS webdesign product anyway? We will endeavour to keep this site as uncluttered as possible and try to strike the balance somewhere between a Minimalist site and “information overload”. Hopefully the made-on-a-mac platform will support all of the I E users out there. Enjoy ......
